How long have you worked in the sector? And how did you get into it?

I started working in the industry in 1997, so I’ve been around for 22 years now! I always knew I wanted to interact with people and property was an interest of mine. Being able to combine a hobby and your day to day job is certainly a good way to create a career in my opinion and I was lucky enough to combine my interest and passion for property. Organisation and communication are key skills in the industry as you do often have a customer facing job. These customers are putting their trust in you to help them find their dream property and I love that feeling of making it a reality.

What is it like to work at LIFEstyle by ENGIE/ENGIE?

ENGIE is a fast-paced environment. There is always lots happening and for that reason you have to be able to think on your feet, be proactive, reactive, ready to work as part of a team or as an individual. You’ll go from liaising with customers or the construction team on site, to spending the next day in an important internal meeting with the legal team – no day is the same. You’re at the forefront of the customers’ journey, from them popping into the sales office to register their interest, to reserving, exchanging contracts and handing them the key. It’s essential they’re happy to put their trust in ENGIE as a company and in me as the sales and marketing manager.

What are you most proud of?

Without a doubt our Assisted Sales Scheme. Many of our customers have the preconceived idea that you need a buyer lined up before looking for a new home – but it doesn’t have to be that way. We want our customers to be able to fall in love with a house type and a plot before they have even had their house valued. If you find a community you want to be part of, don’t be put off by the process.

With the Assisted Sales Scheme, we encourage people to find their dream home first. We will formally reserve the plot for you and take it off the market for 8 weeks whilst we work alongside you to find a buyer for your old home. We aim to take the stress out of the process of finding a buyer and progressing your sale and purchase through to exchange of contracts. We have an extremely high success rate of getting our customers’ homes sold and enabling them to move into our communities smoothly.
